Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, its real in the field.
Just how real is it? Well, your good friend and favorite blogger has been bitten by the greatest market correction in the history of American capitalism.
They cancelled NPR’s News and Notes.
For those unfamiliar, News and Notes was NPR’s daily program that focused on the news from an African American perspective covering the vast arroy of topics in our community from public health to Tyler Perry. Its host, Farai Chideya used the format to shed light on aspects of life in the black community with reverence, genuine inquisitiveness, and sometimes humor and her wit and the show will be missed.
Oh, and the show was also my vehicle to nerd stardom as I hd appeared on their blogger roundtable a couple of times to critical acclaim from my friends and my momma. I was just getting to the point where I was starting to get NPR groupies.
But like all good things, it has come to an end.
If you get a chance, please stop by their blog page to get more info and send them a kind word: http://www.npr.org/blogs/newsandviews/
I also want to make a special shout out to Geoff Bennett over at News and Notes who’s a fellow Morehouse alum who took great care to make sure my voice was heard on the show and my blog got some shine on their site. Drinks are on me next time, Geoff.
